Hawkwing focus to recreate the feeling of late 80's / early 90's arcade and consoles shmup/shoot'em up, with lot of action, colorful 2d low resolution sprites, medium sampling quality sounds and a catchy soundtrack emulated on those old chips.

I release it as a free demo, and depending on the hype, i'll consider making a full game or not.

The game is built in C# with the Monogame framework.

You can follow Los Geekos Studio on Twitter, Facebook, IndieDB or TIG Source for updates on the project.

The project is currently on hold, and won't get any further for the moment.

Update 02/2017: Demo2 (1.1) released: lot of fixes, some game balanced, directinput to handle every controllers, configurable CRT/scanline effect, etc.

Update 04/2017: Demo 1.2 released: updated to Monogame 3.6 and released Mac OSX & Linux versions.

Really great game!

Thanks a lot! :3

Without a doubt, this game will find a big audience when its fully complete, until then what a waste of hard work & full potential  so sad indeed :( another dead project!!!

Hey, thanks for the cool words!

Sadly the game didn't found the "big audience" if you look at "viewed" vs "downloaded" statistics. I guess that kind of hard shmups are not loved that much anymore.

Anyway, thanks for playing! :)

Pretend im the big audience lol only kidding, i totally understand and i am no programmer, but i can imagine all the hardwork and all the effort thats put into a lot of these games and to be unsure if people are going to be interested or not, i honestly think this game as so much potential but its the chance you have to take. if i ever become rich i will fund it because i am a huge fan of retro side scrolling shoot em ups especially games similar to Gradius & R-Type..Unfortunatly ive come across lots of high quality abandoned games on here because of the lack of interest..Such a shame :) thank you

You're welcome. but, thank YOU really! ;)

 :)

Are you continuing the project?

As a solo hobbyist gamedev (read by night), i can't found enough time to dedicate to this project that didn't really found an audience.

So the project is "on hold", at least, for the moment. Still, Thanks for your interest in the project! ;)

is this game on hold at the moment ? Because what I've seen of the first level so far it has so much potential and the retro style graphics are amazing  and everything else, I would love to see this game to full completion that would be Awesome and offcourse I will purchase it immediately :) Amazing work so far guys keep it up :)

Is there a way to play with just 1 ship? I feel like I'm going to pull a brain muscle trying to control both ships at one time :P

Hi, you're the second one to report this "controller controls 2 ships" bug.

Could you give me more infos about your OS and Gamepad please?

Thanks for your comment. ;)

It was an Xbox One controller and Windows 10.
